Laboratory Technician – temp contract until April 2022, MUST BE ABLE TO START BY 16TH AUGUST Manchester Airport As we prepare for winter, the UK’s testing capacity is growing. Put your previous academic /commercial experience to valuable use and support the Covid recovery efforts to help reopen society and the economy. This opportunity for Lab Technicians requires individuals with at least 9-12 months experience working in a laboratory setting. This could be commercial and academic experieince together. In this role, you will: process samples from receipt, through to sample processing and storage, in line with laboratory and quality management processes. work in accordance with laboratory SOPs and ensure high levels of cleanliness in the laboratory area. Key responsibilities are likely to include sample setup, preparation of PCR reaction mixtures and appropriate controls and operation of PCR instrumentation. As the role responsibilities will vary between locations, your role may also include: Carrying out extraction and analysis identifying and processing samples that may have been compromised or do not meet the established acceptability criteria. tracking samples using a LIMS system. Essential 9-12 months working in a laboratory setting (could include academic Labs for degrees) Experience working in Biosafety Cabinets Previous experience in RNA extraction studies Minimum of 1 science A-Level (or equivalent) GCSE Maths or English (or equivalent) Desirable Educated to degree level within a scientific discipline, or equivalent lab experience Degree in Biomedical Sciences Ideally Full Driving licence & aged over 23 years (for insurance purposes) as may need to drive support car back to hubs HCPC registered Experience using and programming automated liquid platforms Please note that Lab Technician roles are likely to be highly varied depending on the lab setting and assay procedure used.
