Please note 1 day of face to face training will be given for this short term project covering go-live over 8 wards. This will be supplemented by eLearning
Closed Loop Medication Administration Verification – also known as KBMA (Knowledge Based Medication Administration)
Deliverables for floor walkers include but are not limited to:
- Provide floor-walking support to staff following Go Live
- Promote the closed loop bedside verification medication administration process to staff as a method of improving patient safety and patient experience.
- Encourage staff to use the KBMA processes.
- Take a proactive approach to floor walking designated ward ensuring an approachable demeanour and helpful manner is maintained throughout allocated shifts.
- Achieve compliance for KBMA on allocated ward.
- Carry out continuous horizon scanning of allocated ward in order to try and prevent any potential mistakes being made whilst staff are carrying out the new KBMA process.
- Troubleshoot any issues where possible and escalate in situations where issue cannot be resolved
- Where possible, support staff on the ward to resolve any issues faced whilst carrying out the new KBMA process.
- Where possible, support staff on the ward to understand the cause of mistakes made once identified in order to enable them to independently self-correct when carrying out the new KBMA process moving forward.
- For all wards across the Trust, floor walkers will be asked to communicate relevant feedback including issues raised (detail of issue, time and date raised, person issue raised by), mitigation/resolution put in place (arrangements put in place, when and where they were put in place, who put them in place, outcome of them being put in place) and lessons learned via the specified method in order to enable the project team to ensure this information is recorded and documented appropriately.
- Carry out evaluation and performance monitoring using appropriate evaluation tools.
- Escalate all issues to appropriate team members.
- Provide brief handover report to appropriate designated team lead towards the end of each shift via specified method in order to ensure feedback, evaluation information and performance monitoring information is cascaded to the project team
- Ensure you present to the appropriate ward shift lead at the end of your shift in order to inform them that you are finishing as well as to obtain a signature from the appropriate ward shift lead to verify the completion of your shift.
SHIFTS - Monday to Friday (7am-3pm OR 3pm-11pm)
Saturday & Sunday (7am-3pm OR 3pm-11pm)
To be considered you must have excellent communication skills (be comfortable dealing with clinical and non-clinical staff, management etc), have excellent administration skills and be happy to work on wards and clinical areas.
