Unsung Hero Awards: Time to Leave the Nest..
After 4 wonderful years of being the main sponsor of the Unsung Hero Awards, GoToJobBoard must say adios, au revoir, auf wiedersehen and good luck as the Unsung Hero Awards goes it alone! It’s time to fly…
It’s been an amazing four years. The first two we travelled the country to personally give out the well-deserved awards. Year three was afternoon tea at The Place Aparthotel in Manchester (the birthplace of the NHS of course, some 70 years ago) with over 100 attendees from NHS Trusts the length and breadth of England.
Year four was simply amazing – over 350 people attended our first evening event at The Principal Hotel, Manchester. Again people came from far and wide including our very first winner from Scotland, Iain Rivans – Patients Choice Award.
We were warmly welcomed by The Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham who, just as we were thinking we would have to move the 2019 Unsung Hero Awards to a larger venue (perhaps London), spoke the immortal words…
“The NHS was born here in Manchester and therefore the Unsung Hero Awards must always be held in Manchester!”
We knew then that the Unsung Hero Awards deserved to “go it alone” and so after this year’s awards ceremony we established it as a Not-for-Profit Community Interest Company. Officially known as UNSUNG HERO AWARDS COMMUNITY INTEREST COMPANY (company number 11383972) it is now fully dependent upon the generosity of the nominators and the sponsors. The nominators' generosity is shown by the time and great effort taken in putting forward so many nominations (over 1000 this year alone). The sponsors' generosity is, of course, financial support, without which we could not hold such a prestigious event to celebrate our NHS Unsung Heroes. So here we are at GoToJobBoard shedding a few tears but so happy we were there to witness the birth of the Unsung Hero Awards, the only National Award to truly celebrate the amazing work done every single day by Non-Medical staff in the NHS. Staff that so often go unseen, go unheard and yet without them all the tremendous life saving work of their medical colleagues just wouldn’t or couldn’t happen. So please go to the official website of our newly independent company www.unsungheroawards.com and learn how you can be a part of the 2019 Unsung Hero Awards. We hope to see you there on March 1st 2019 at The Hilton in Manchester (of course)
Now, let's remember our all previous Unsung Hero Awards winners... If you would like to know more about them, visit Previous Winners Page here.
